SAN (Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya) Treatment Training

This course is designed for bodyworkers

Head • Neck • Sinus • Nervous System Support

The SAN treatment is a traditional Ayurvedic protocol combining Shiro-Abhyanga (head oil massage) and Nasya (nasal oleation) to gently relax the tissues of the head, neck, and respiratory passages while supporting the body’s natural fluid drainage pathways.

Modern research describes a glymphatic-lymphatic clearance system in the brain and head that helps remove metabolic waste products through cerebrospinal fluid movement and drainage to cervical lymphatic pathways. These systems play an important role in sleep quality, cognitive clarity, and neurological health. Pubmed

Studies also suggest that impaired glymphatic clearance is associated with symptoms such as headaches, poor sleep, and cognitive fog — indicating that supporting these natural drainage pathways may influence overall brain and sinus health. PubMed

Summary of workshop:

  • This treatment combines:

    Shiro-Abhyanga
Warm herbal oils applied to the scalp, neck, and upper shoulders to calm the nervous system and encourage fluid movement.

    Nasya
Gentle nasal oleation to lubricate and open sinus passages, traditionally used to support prana, breathing, and clarity of the head.

Together, these therapies create a deeply relaxing experience while supporting the body's natural detoxification and drainage mechanisms in the head and neck.

    Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
